Public building

The project developed for a public building in Johannesburg in 2023 focuses on improving acoustic comfort in an institutional space with high user traffic and multiple simultaneous activities. These types of buildings, intended for citizen services and administrative functions, require functional environments where communication is clear, ambient noise is controlled, and the user experience is efficient and comfortable.

In this intervention, Ideatec Advanced Acoustic Solutions provided a solution based on the Ideawood Idealux LT system, installed on ceilings as the primary acoustic treatment element. This system combines technical sound absorption performance with a wood aesthetic finish, allowing the acoustic solution to be integrated into the interior architecture without altering the building's institutional image.

The main challenge of the project was to reduce the reverberation generated by large interior spaces, hard surfaces, and high foot traffic. In public buildings, these factors often lead to a buildup of background noise that hinders verbal communication and creates a perception of acoustic discomfort. The installation of Ideawood Idealux LT on the ceilings allowed for direct action on the space's volume, improving sound quality without invasive intervention in the existing architecture.
